Friends of AnthropologyThe Friends of Anthropology is a membership support group for anthropological research at Northwestern. It has two related goals: (1) to provide funds and volunteer work to support anthropological research by Northwestern's exceptional graduate and undergraduate students and faculty; and (2) to offer opportunities for alumni and other friends to participate actively in the academic life of the Anthropology Department. Friends of Anthropology at Northwestern recognize and take advantage of opportunities for nonprofessional anthropologists to get involved in such innovative work. We also support the department's efforts to build on its strengths in basic research, effective teaching, and the application of anthropology both inside and outside of academia. Becoming a FAN is
for anyone interested in the enterprise of anthropology--the study of
humankind in broad perspective. FANs may have special interests in particular
world regions or in fields allied to anthropology such as biology, sociology,
history, geography and linguistics. FAN benefits
