Study
Abroad
Prior college-level
study of Chinese or Japanese is a prerequisite of
some--but not all--Asian study options affiliated
with NU's Study Abroad Office. In any case, the study
abroad experience, typically undertaken in the junior
year, can be much enhanced by prior classwork at the
freshman and sophomore level, even if it is not
required in a particular African, Asian, or Middle
Eastern study abroad program affiliated with
Northwestern.
All seven PAAL
languages may be studied abroad at NU-conducted or
affiliated institutions; study of these should be
undertaken with the understanding that assessment,
placement, and credit must be handled by PAAL
coordinators of instruction on return.
For details on
language, country, and program prerequisites and
offerings, consult the NU Study Abroad website or e-mail the office directly.
